Daily Dose of Disney #23 ~~ Tropical Storm Faye

Back in August 2008 we had the good fortune to be at the World during Tropical Storm Faye who got stuck right over central Florida.
Even though it kept the temperatures down (but not the humidity) trudging through the parks in a torrential downpour got old after a while.
We spent several afternoons in the room watching the Olympics until the worse was over.

One day at EPCOT we were trapped inside "Honey I Shrunk the Audience" while this was going on outside:

Here are two shots from DHS as we were leaving for the day when the rain and the wind got just too much:

And once we got to Old Key West it was coming down so hard it was hard to get to the room:

From our balcony:

And still going the next day:

I thought I would be budget conscious and brought ponchos from the dollar store... might as well have brought saran wrap!

Here Alex and our family friend Bri trying to stay dry at the Animal Kingdom in the saran wrap.

Here Erin & Katherine are wearing the ponchos we ended up with after forking out a small fortune at the parks.
On the upside when the kids each tore their ponchos at least once, they replaced them for free.

So I have to make sure I can find the ones I bought on that trip and take them with us in case something like this happens again.

I have a "travel trunk" that belonged to my mom which is an antique steamer trunk that I keep all the stuff for my trips in that I dont use at other times. I think I may have stuffed the ponchos in there but I'm not sure. The trunk is currently stored in the garage so I have to dig it out and bring it in so I can start loading it up with Disney vacation items to look through as the year goes on.

I LOVE looking through things I have set aside for the trip.

Daily Dose of Disney #22 ~~ Pilot your own Jungle Cruise Boat

Of all the paid for extras, this was by far one of the kids favorites.
They have begged to do it before but we always put it off, but this trip we let them and they had a real blast.

And as you might imagine, they spent quite a bit of time running into each other.

Daily Dose of Disney #21 ~~ Shopping in EPCOT: Italy

EPCOT is one of my favorite places.
I especially like browsing through the stores in the World Showcase.
Here are some of the gorgeous things they have for sale in Italy:

I know it's just pasta, but it looks so pretty:

Out in the courtyard:

Here the kids are doing the Italian addition to their mask:

Daily Dose of Disney #20 ~~ Expedition Everest

Anyone who has read my 2008 trip report knows that this ride scares the bejeesus out of me.

Here are some photos from inside the store at the end of the ride.
I spend a lot of time here waiting for the non-scaredy-cats of the crew to ride.

Daily Dose of Disney #19 ~~ Toy Story Midway Mania

I found 2 trips worth of pictures from this ride so I put them together.
This is a good example of why you should always get a fastpass... 80 minutes! Too long for me!

 Don't shoot!

Daily Dose of Disney #17 ~~ The Living Seas

The kids love going to the aquariums in the Living Seas.
There is almost never a line for the ride and its a ton of fun to see all the fish and everything else swimming around in there.

We got to see divers in the tanks:

The kids took about 200 pictures of all the different critters in the small close up tanks.
I'll post more on a later post.

Daily Dose of Disney #16 ~~ DHS Streetmospshere

One morning at MGM / Disney Hollywood Studios we got the pleasure of catching a street show featuring Otto van BonBon and TuTu Tullula.

We all laughed like crazy through the whole show.

And at the end the kids all wanted to take pictures with the crew.

Daily Dose of Disney #15 ~~ Hall of Presidents

This set of pictures was from the year we went and it hotter than the surface of the sun.
The Hall of presidents was a wonderful place to cool off.

The kids got a real kick out of taking pictures of the pictures

There were some really nice displays to look at.
My camera kept reflecting off the glass so I didn't get as many shots as I would have liked.

Then of course they had to take pictures of each other
